Aubrey
He held Talyn, the blessed knife pressed against his neck, and stared down at Jayde. He couldn’t read any emotion from her, his anger clouding everything. His aura was glowing from the rage he didn’t bother hold back now.
“One reason,” he growled into Talyn’s ear, pressing the knife harder against his skin, feeling Talyn controlling his fear as it slid into his neck a little. “One reason, I shouldn’t kill you now.” His teeth were complete in his mouth, not from bloodlust, but from anticipating a fight. His vampiric senses would give him strength, and now his dark side pulsed through him freely. Talyn opened his mouth; his teeth already out from the bloodlust he was trying to control now.
“Because, I’m bonded to her. And if you kill me, you kill her.” Aubrey’s anger faded quickly, and he blinked, loosing his hold, Talyn felt him freeze, and used this to his advantage, raising his arm and striking Aubrey’s wrist, breaking it, the knife falling into Talyn’s free hand. Spinning from his grasp, Talyn pointed the knife at Aubrey’s neck, the tip stabbing him slightly, not enough to kill, only sting. Aubrey’s eyes squinted, a growl humming through his chest.
“You lying bastard,” he spat at Talyn, still held under the knife, anger coursing through him, filling him as he was unable to do anything. Talyn smirked, amusement on his face, and tilted his head back cockily.
“Am I?” He nodded at her slightly, still sitting on the pavement in a daze. Aubrey’s eyes flickered to her, and for a moment, Talyn could see compassion and fear, feel it in his aura, but just for a second; then Aubrey had it under control, and composed himself, a blank expression on his pale face once more. Jayde did nothing, and nothing could be read from her face or mind, the only way Aubrey could tell was from her large, expressive eyes, which were fixed on the ground.
“Jayde, stand up,” Talyn said forcefully. Aubrey snickered, ignoring the tingle in his throat as the knife stuck him a little deeper.
“You really think you control her Talyn? You’re such a fool…” But his dry tone was abandoned as he watched Jayde push herself to her feet, standing in place, her face still turned downward. Aubrey felt nothing, hollow, trying to understand how this was possible. Realization hit him, and he blinked, staring at her face, her hair blowing around it in the soft wind. No,[/color] his mind whispered on it’s own will, forcing the thought down, his lips parting and his voice crackling up his throat, tight with disbelief and pain.
“No,” he whispered, his voice cracking. Anger seeped into him, slow but deadly, filling his whole. His eyesight flashed red, and he blended into the shadows, too quick for Talyn to stab him, the knife only piercing the darkness. Becoming solid behind Talyn, he pulled his arm out, hearing it pop as it dislocated, and returned to the shadows, catching the knife. Solid once again, he struck Talyn across the face with his free hand. Using his surprise to his advantage, he latched his aura onto Talyn’s, sending minor mind shocks, keeping him paralyzed. Holding him back, he held the knife to him again, and making sure he wouldn’t get out of his hold. Then he turned to Jayde, seeing her still staring downward, showing no sign of life, other then her shallow breaths.
“Jayde,” he moaned, anguish clogging his voice, knowing it was his fault she was gone. “Answer me, Damnit.” He pleaded, “Please.” She remained blank, and he felt tears rise behind his eyes, his throat tighten, a lump of defeat stuck in his throat. She stayed still, as if in a comatose. Pain spread through his chest, an ache; killing what little humanity he had left in him. His sadness left him, now completely filled with rage, and no morals about killing.
Turning back to Talyn, he looked down at him, barely able to control his powers from ripping apart his mind, piece by piece. He stopped shocking Talyn, letting go of his hair he’d been gripping, holding him back, and gripped his throat, picking him up and hurling him at the building. Talyn hit the brick wall hard, some of the bricks shattering, turning inward, grinding over shards as they shifted to brace for his impact. He sat on the ground a moment, stunned, but blinked a few times, and stood, anger burning into his eyes, flickering from their red to black, no longer trying to keep his illusions up. His aura grew, flickering around him, only visible to another vampire’s eyes. Aubrey could see it, a pale blue glow encasing his body, and he responded, his own a dark red. Hitting each other’s auras, they crackled and sparked, sending the shadows dancing from the unseen lights. Pushing against each other, they snarled and growled like animals, fighting for a piece of meat.
Jealous Aubrey? Talyn taunted him, not bothering trying to speak; his fangs in the way of the possibility for clear speech. Aubrey growled, a deep tremor rumbling through his chest, and struck Talyn’s aura, sending an array of sparks out, blinding them both momentarily. Talyn lost his defenses, dropping his guard, but luckily Aubrey was too overcome by his rage to notice, and kept circling Talyn, only wanting to hurt him, make him bleed, feed on him, destroy him. Talyn picked up his shields again, smirking as he felt Aubrey’s anger swell.
Normally when the two would fight, they would turn, circling each other. Walking with their backs to each other, taking part in a deadly game. Turning from each other’s site, but still watching their backs, vipers, ready to kill and simply waiting for the chance. Now they started this game, feeling gingerly with their auras, watching each other, still circling. Aubrey walked closer to him, and he turned. Talyn didn’t trust him at his back, knowing he was strong and reckless, and did not like him. He dare not turn for full view of Aubrey, not ready to give in to cowardice, but tensed and watched with his mind’s eye, waiting for him to strike.
Aubrey shifted to him, his foot sliding along the pavement, his fist coming at him in an arch, caught with Talyn’s hand, and thrust away from him. They fought, stiff practiced moves, Talyn lashing out with his mind, Aubrey’s vision misting, leaving him unguarded. Talyn was at his throat in a moment, the knife in his hand, the blade just sliding under his thin layer of skin, deep crimson blood welling around the tip of it, a drop rolling down his pale skin.
Aubrey laughed, and Talyn was stunned, his defenses dropping for a second, not even. But just long enough. Aubrey shifted his shoulder, his elbow cracking him in the ribs, splintering them, his other hand snapping Talyn’s wrist, the blade falling swiftly. They both knew this fight was serious, and Talyn was weak. He had forgotten the knife, which Aubrey now held, his every instinct focused on survival. Aubrey threw the knife at him, and he easily dodges it, slapping it away with his hand, looking up to catch the hilt.
Fool, [/b]Aubrey had flown through the darkness, after the knife, and became solid, slamming into Talyn hard. He felt the shock waves ripple through Talyn’s stomach, his ribs still healing from cracking and breaking earlier in the fight, and his legs gave way now, pain overcoming him. He crumpled, Aubrey pinning him down, holding both his arms with one hand, and his knees across Talyn’s legs, completely dominating him. He stared down at Talyn, wanting to kill him, rip out his throat, eat his flesh and drink his blood and take him over, letting him heal, and killing him, again and again. But blinked, and looked up at Jayde. He couldn’t kill her. Talyn smirked, realizing this.
Not so strong now, are you Aubrey? Letting a human into your life. [/b]Aubrey flipped the knife to his throat, feeling Talyn shudder, and grow still beneath his fingertips. I’m not afraid to kill you, and why shouldn’t I? She’s dead now. As dead as she would be if I slit her neck and watched her bleed. Talyn stared at Aubrey, knowing that he wasn’t bluffing. He could smell his pain and vow for revenge on the air, and felt it, as sharp as the edge of the blade pressed against his neck, the fear consumed him, and his mind retracted. Jayde blinked a few times, no longer under his trance.
“Do it already.” Aubrey and Talyn turned, facing Jayde, who was looking at them intently. “Kill him.” Aubrey felt as if he should run to her, embrace her, but Talyn was still under his hold, and now had no advantages. Aubrey looked back down at him, now he the one smirking and taunting.
Fear exploded into Talyn’s mind, and Aubrey could feel it, taste it, feed on it through the air. Aubrey shifted the knife in his hand; pressing it down more forcefully, ready to end this vampire’s life.
Aubrey, please.[/b] Talyn pleaded. Don’t kill me, take anything. Just don’t kill me. [/b]Aubrey was stunned, amazed and slightly disgusted at Talyn’s pathetic will to live. Talyn tilted his head back slightly, offering his neck. Aubrey scoffed, then lowered his lips to Talyn’s flesh.
Vampire’s blood is much stronger then any human’s, so when he pulled away, he was drunk on victory and pleasure. His darker side was ruling him, as he smiled grimly at the fallen vampire, still alive, but wounded, in more ways then physically. Aubrey stood, letting Talyn’s defeat run over his tongue and licked it from his lips, leaving him on the broken pavement with his wounded pride, and took Jayde into his arms. Deciding to scold her later, he only pressed his lips against hers softly, his hand buried in her soft hair. They stood a moment on the street, the moonlight shining over them, and then they slipped away into the shadows, flying across the dark sky.
He held Talyn, the blessed knife pressed against his neck, and stared down at Jayde. He couldn’t read any emotion from her, his anger clouding everything. His aura was glowing from the rage he didn’t bother hold back now.
