I see you
Staring at my wounds
Perfect, intricate,
Carved from the battles I've fought
Marking the flesh my enemies's blades have sought
Now I return
To be gawked at and ignored
Fighting their war, now what have I learned ?
I could leave now hide away
Cover my pain and lie in shame
But I'm not one to back down
Scowl, meet the world head on.
Go on and stare, give in to your sick temptation.
I'll be ignoring you, still searching for my redemption.
Everyone I used to know is dead and gone
Disappeared while I was playing war games
Let my life go for too long
I can barely remember my own name
I wear my wounds without pride
Also without shame
It ain't like I'm going to hide.
I can't be proud of showing pain
Cuz I'm not one to lower my head
Chin up, glare back at this fucked world instead
Go on and stare, give in to your sick temptation.
I'm just ignoring you, searching for this illusive redemption.
I made my mistakes
But you can't blame me
To error is human
To forgive -
Is pathetic.
I'm not one to hold grudges,
Just out for my own revenge.
I see others crawl, barely able to walk
With their arms out, begging for more
I guess I've been there before
Used to be pitiful, used to be wrong
Now I'm better, bigger, strong.
But they keep reminding me
No one'll be there when I fall from grace
Well I don't expect to be vindicated
I expect a little respect while I spit in your face
I was never one to stay in the dark
Mocking grin, left my mark
Go on and stare, give in to your sick temptation.
I'm done with you, earned my redemption.
'Fallen from grace'
I never had any to begin with
I refused to fall
Took a running dive from the cliff.
I was never one for pain
So I leave, with a cold eyed glare and a smile driving you insane
Go on, stare at the scars, sweet sweet temptation.
Holding onto my enemies, held in death's redemption.
